Arnesen keen on Bruma stay

Hamburg general manager eager to extend Dutch defender's loan



Hamburg general manager Frank Arnesen has expressed his desire to have Chelsea youngster Jeffrey Bruma at the club next season.

The Holland international has made 15 appearances in the Bundesliga since his loan move from Chelsea, and Arnesen is keen for the 20 year-old to stay. Arnesen was a sporting director at Chelsea until joining Hamburgin 2011, and the former Denmark international has brought a host of his former youth players to Germany, including Bruma and Michael Mancienne.

He told German newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost: "We have had some good conversations with Chelsea, it was mainly about Jeffrey Bruma and his future within the game. They are pleased with his development."Chelsea FC is positive about the loan arrangement and its continuation, although they are not 100% certain about this."

Bruma's deal at Hamburg is set to run until the end of the 2012/13 campaign, but Chelsea have the option to recall him at the close of this season if they wish.Arnesen added: "At this point in time, they are concentrating on finding a new manager.
