Premier League News Roundup: Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United Updates

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott reflected on his future at the club, saying that he wants to emerge as a legendary figure for The Gunners in the mould of Thierry Henry.

Walcott, who is now spending the final year of his contract with Arsenal, said that the stalling delays do not have anything to do with money. He asserted that his judgments are “based on football and only football” and emphasized his preference of switching to a striker role.

With an agreement still pending on Walcott’s side, the January transfer window could probably be his destination, as remarked by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The winger reportedly declined to sign a recent offer with a weekly sum of £75,000.

Liverpool look headed towards a catastrophic season after five winless league games. Their woes have now worsened as defender Martin Kelly might not play for the rest of this season after sustaining a knee injury during his side’s Anfield match versus Manchester United.

Kelly will undergo knee surgery after findings revealed serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligaments. Fellow defender Daniel Agger is reportedly suffering from a bone bruise after hurting his left knee in a collision with United’s Antonio Valencia, but he did not incur other severe damages.

Newcastle United might have difficulties in playign against tough oponnent Manchester United as striker Wayne Rooney could possibly make his comeback on their Capital One Cup fixture on Tuesday, following a nasty thigh wound that sidelined him in their league match against Fulham.

Rooney has reportedly resumed his training to earn back a starting spot in upcoming matches. He might appear in United’s Saturday league match against Tottenham instead if he does not get to face Newcastle.

Darren Fletcher, who is currently recovering from a chronic bowel condition, will make the starting lineup on Tuesday. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that the game would be a “perfect game” for the midfielder.
